Throwback to a great experience when I had the incredible opportunity to speak at Holy Cross College in Dhaka, Bangladesh! It was such a rewarding experience to discuss just energy transition and its crucial relationship with climate change. I was deeply honored by the warm welcome from the college principal Sister Shikha Laetitia Gomes and I want to express my sincere gratitude to her. Speaking to 1,300 attentive and engaged young leaders was truly amazing. Key highlights from my session: 🌍 The world’s wealthiest 10% are responsible for 50% of global emissions, climate change is deeply unequal. 🇧🇩 Despite contributing only 0.45% of global emissions, Bangladesh faces devastating climate impacts like rising sea levels, extreme weather, and climate migration. 🧵 The RMG sector plays a major role in Bangladesh’s energy footprint, transitioning to renewable energy is vital and must be fair, inclusive, and worker-centered. 💡 A Just Energy Transition (JET) means no one is left behind especially women workers and marginalized communities. 🤝 Urgent need for policy reform, international support, and investment in clean energy to ensure sustainable development. Huge thanks to the students and faculty for the warm welcome.
