Bangladesh's apparel sector, a cornerstone of the economy, confronts a pivotal decarbonization challenge. Despite commitments to transition, heavy fossil fuel reliance makes the 2030 energy plan difficult. "We have made commitments to the UNFCCC Bangladesh to reduce carbon emissions. We are thinking not only about our generation but also about the future," states Ms. Fahima Akhter, Director of Brand BGMEA. The dialogue together with Oxfam in Bangladesh, Stand.earth, and Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity (BCWS) unites manufacturers, brands, trade unions and policymakers to address the RMG energy roadmap, renewable adoption barriers/incentives, just transition safeguards for workers/environment, and shared stakeholder responsibilities.
